Kristine Afable is an emerging ceramic artist with a passion for crafting unique pieces that blend tradition and modernity. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she lived there for 18 years before moving to the United States and then settling down in Toronto, Canada. Kristine worked in the luxury hospitality industry for eight years, where she honed her eye for detail, aesthetics, and the importance of creating immersive, meaningful experiences through service.

Her time in luxury hospitality shaped her understanding of craftsmanship and refined her creative approach, inspiring her to infuse these values into her ceramic work. In each piece, Kristine seeks to evoke the same sense of care and elegance, balancing form and function to create timeless, handmade creations.

With almost two years of experience in ceramics, her journey has been deeply influenced by her travels across the United States, Canada, Japan, France, and Italy, where she explored the rich history of ceramics. Kristine channels her creativity and cultural experiences into each piece, drawing inspiration from her Filipino heritage and the global influences she’s encountered along the way. Her work reflects a harmonious fusion of traditional Filipino pottery and modern design, making each creation a reflection of both her roots and artistic evolution.

Currently, she is working on larger sculptural pieces that incorporate traditional Filipino shapes and patterns, infused with modern design elements. Kristine is also hosting monthly hand-building workshops focused on creating traditional Filipino cookware and connecting with community. As she continues to grow as a ceramic artist, her goal is to create larger, more sculptural pieces that push the boundaries of traditional pottery and explore deeper cultural narratives.
